For Years 8-12
Applications for entry into Years 8-12 are managed by the school, in line with Selective Schools Unit guidelines. Only a small number of places are available each year, vacancies only occur when a current student leaves the school. Application packages become available from the school or the Selective Schools Unit in Term 2 each year and are usually due to be returned to the school, along with supporting documentation and a $50 non-refundable administration fee, by the end of July. The deadline date for application each year is determined by the Selective Schools Unit and all applications must be received at the school by this date.
After the closing date the selection committee arranges the applications in order of academic merit based upon the evidence submitted. The committee considers material that not only provides evidence of high academic achievement, but also participation in extra curricular activities. Residential status requirements and family placement claims follow the Year 7 entry criteria. Students must be either born in Australia or have a permanent residents visa.
It is helpful for the school's enrolment panel if applicants include documents that can demonstrate their academic ability, learning attributes and commitment to school life. Copies of the last two school reports must be included. Additional documents could include:
- NAPLAN results from Years 7 and 9
- Australian Mathematics/Science etc Competition results
- School and external awards; merit certificates
- Documents relating to extra-curricular activities, school service contributions and leadership responsibilities.

Penrith Selective High School
Penrith High School is a New South Wales government academic selective high school which caters for highly achieving academically talented students.
Limited vacancies may occur in Years 8 to 12 in 2016. Applications to fill these vacancies this year were available from 23rd June until 28th July, 2015.
Application packages are available from around the end of June until around the end of July each year via a link on our website or direct from Penrith High School (Phone: 4721 0529) and need to be submitted to the Principal of Penrith High School by the closing date which is published by the Selective Schools Unit around the beginning of June each year.
